There is a good chance that your ancestors were Canadian.

British scientists have dug out what they consider to be the oldest living things on Earth, in a place called the Nuvvuagittuq Greenstone of northwestern Quebec.

According to these scientists, all life forms that have ever existed in the ages since, descend from creatures such as those represented in a piece of ancient hematite. The fossils of these creatures resemble microscopic slugs in colonies built upon fossils of undersea volcanic vents.

This discovery encourages ventures into geologic surveys of other objects in the solar system.
